FM Global · Technical Documentation

One playbook for every dev team.

Engineering standards lived in too many places. I turned them into one clear path from preparation to deployment.

The insight

Teams didn't need more rules. They needed to know which rules mattered, and when.

A new team should be able to answer one question fast: are we ready to build? So I organized everything around the moment a team needs it, not the department that wrote it.

My process

How I did it

  1. Audit

Gathered every existing policy, standard, and how-to. Mapped overlaps, conflicts, and gaps.

  2. Align

Worked with architects, engineering managers, and InfoSec to separate what teams must do from what they should do.

  3. Structure

Ordered the content to follow the delivery lifecycle, from preparation through deployment.

  4. Write

Set two voices. Firm “must” language for policy. A conversational Playbook that starts discussions instead of gating them.

  5. Make it usable

Checklists, do and don't lists, role tables, and revision history so teams can scan, act, and trust what's current.

The structure

Every standard, mapped to the moment it matters
